BLOOD FILLED THE TRUNK OF A FORD RANGER: Investigators examining the vehicle belonging to elderly couple Ernst and Dina Marais have reportedly uncovered disturbing new evidence that may dramatically change the direction of the ongoing case inside Kruger National Park.
According to sources close to the investigation, forensic teams recently completed a detailed examination of the couple’s dark-colored Ford Ranger, which was discovered abandoned near a remote dirt road several kilometers away from where the bodies were eventually found.
Inside the trunk area of the vehicle, investigators allegedly discovered traces of blood along with a length of rope partially hidden beneath emergency equipment and travel bags. Initial testing quickly confirmed that part of the blood evidence did not belong to either Ernst or Dina Marais.
The discovery immediately raised concerns among detectives, who ordered urgent DNA analysis to determine the identity of the unknown source.
Days later, forensic specialists reportedly made a shocking breakthrough.
According to leaked information from individuals familiar with the case, the unidentified blood sample allegedly matched a former park maintenance worker who had reportedly disappeared several months earlier under unrelated circumstances. Authorities have not officially released the individual’s name while investigators continue verifying how the DNA may be connected to the Marais case.
Police sources say the unexpected match has opened an entirely new line of investigation, with detectives now reviewing whether the abandoned worker may somehow have crossed paths with the elderly couple before their deaths.
Authorities emphasized that the discovery does not automatically prove criminal involvement, and investigators continue examining multiple possible explanations for how the blood entered the vehicle.
The rope recovered from the Ford Ranger is also undergoing forensic testing for fingerprints, fibers, and environmental traces. Officials reportedly hope the material may help reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the tragedy.
Friends of Ernst and Dina Marais expressed disbelief after hearing about the latest development.
“Every new detail makes this case even more confusing,” one family friend reportedly said. “Nobody understands what really happened out there.”
The couple had gone missing during what was supposed to be a peaceful sightseeing trip through Kruger National Park earlier this month. After an extensive search operation involving helicopters, rangers, divers, and local police, their bodies were later discovered near a crocodile-inhabited river area deep inside the reserve.
Since then, the case has drawn widespread attention both inside South Africa and internationally, fueled by rumors, leaked evidence, and multiple unconfirmed theories circulating online.
Authorities continue urging the public not to spread false information while the investigation remains active. Officials also warned that several details appearing online may be exaggerated or entirely inaccurate.
Meanwhile, forensic analysts are continuing to process digital evidence recovered from the couple’s phones, vehicle systems, and personal belongings in hopes of understanding what truly happened during their final hours.
Police say additional updates may be released once investigators complete the next phase of forensic testing connected to the mysterious blood sample and the recovered Ford Ranger.
