DEEP STORY: An anonymous account sends a message: “I know where Gus is” but when police contact…

Late last night, investigators were startled when the official police tip-line received a direct message from an anonymous social media account. The message contained only six chilling words: “I know where Gus is.” The account had no profile picture, no posts, and appeared to have been created less than an hour before the message was sent.

Detectives immediately attempted to trace and contact the sender — but the moment authorities initiated a request for verification, the account vanished. All traces of it were suddenly deleted, including the message itself, leaving behind nothing but a notification timestamp stored on the platform’s server.

Cybercrime specialists were called in and quickly determined that the user had routed their activity through multiple layers of VPN masking, making the source nearly impossible to track on the surface. Even more concerning, logs suggest the account was operated for barely three minutes before being wiped completely.

Police are now exploring two possibilities:

  • The sender truly knows something and is afraid of being identified

  • Someone is deliberately misleading investigators, attempting to manipulate the direction of the search

Authorities are requesting that anyone with genuine information come forward through verified channels, stressing that anonymous messages like this — especially ones that disappear instantly — could hinder the investigation rather than help it.

Officials say they are not ruling out the possibility that the message was created by someone close to the case… or by someone watching from a distance.
