JUST DONE: The search team heard Gus’s name being called from down in the sewer, but upon checking, they found…
Moments after expanding the search perimeter near the old industrial bridge, rescue personnel reported an eerie incident that immediately halted all operations. According to the team leader, several members distinctly heard a voice calling out “Gus!” from deep inside the sewer tunnel below the concrete walkway.
Believing it could be a sign of life, the team quickly descended into the narrow entrance. Flashlights swept through the darkness, echo bouncing off the damp walls — but instead of finding a person, they discovered something completely unexpected.
At the end of the tunnel, searchers found a small, water-soaked walkie-talkie, wedged between two broken bricks. The device was still powered on, its speaker intermittently crackling as if someone had used it moments earlier. Next to it lay a muddy child’s glove, believed to belong to Gus based on size and color.
Investigators now suspect someone might have intentionally placed the walkie-talkie there to mimic Gus’s voice, or that the device had captured a recording triggered by movement. Both possibilities open disturbing new directions in the case.
The tunnel has been sealed for forensic analysis, and sound experts have been called in to examine the walkie-talkie’s audio log.
Authorities say more updates will follow as they work to determine who — or what — called Gus’s name from underground.
